On Saturday I ran 19 miles! That's right, 19 freaking miles! I was scheduled to run 22 but since I got behind in my training I didn't want to try and jump from 17 all the way up to 22. Since I went from 13 miles to 19 miles in just four weeks I ran into a little trouble. I believe that I have bruised my sesamoid bone. It's a bone that is underneath where my big toe meets the rest of my foot. Apparently I waited too long to get new shoes and with the increase in mileage it caused a bruise. So, what's the treatment? Apparently it's rest and ice. So, I'm not running this week in hopes that next week I'll be all healed up and ready to get back to it in time for the big race.
For race day I have my outfit picked out, my fuel planned, my hotel booked and I feel ready to go. I think it's going to be a fun day filled with challenges. Can't wait to post pics of the medal!
